Chairman's Letter

Dear Colleagues,

It is my pleasure, on behalf of the Board of Directors of Indonesian Petroleum Association, to invite you to the 41st IPA Convention and Exhibition which will be held on 17-19 May 2017 at the Jakarta Convention Center.

The industry has been facing challenging times brought by significant drop in oil price. The market condition forces a hard look into current business structures and practices, not only in upstream oil and gas sector. Long-term business sustainability challenges industry players to find a new way of working then adapt to the new normal. Efficiency and productivity become anchor points on top of survivability.

However, the pursuit of new investment, additional reserves and more sustainable productions must prevail as they bring not just oil and gas but the many positive trickle-down effect to the economy and society.

It is in such spirit that this year’s theme is “Accelerating Reform to Re-Attract Investment to Meet the Economic Growth Target”. Indonesian upstream oil and gas sector is no longer a mere state revenue generator, but the engine for economic growth through its multiplying effect.

This year's Convention will bring a selection of plenaries and technical sessions featuring prominent government officials, captains of the industry, key stakeholders, and credible analysts.

The highly-anticipated plenary sessions will take stock on the current reality, understand the extent of the multiplier effect to the economy and deep-dive into ways to reform current policies and regulations to be relevant with ever changing business environment.

The highly-coveted technical sessions will discuss advances in science and technology, and their novel applications to solve problems in operations.

The vast exhibition area displays the latest in oil and gas products, technologies and key projects, providing updates and business opportunity for all.

Lastly, let’s not forget that it is also an excellent opportunity to re-acquaint with friends and business colleagues, and to expand your professional network in the bustling capital of Southeast Asia's biggest economy.

See you in Jakarta!

Sincerely,
Michael C. Putra
